I picked up this book at a Little Free Library near my house. It was short, and it was free, which were basically my only criteria. I decided to flip through it quickly and sure enough, I finished it in a day. The Seven Storey Mountain is Thomas Merton’s account of his conversion to Catholicism. Born in France in 1915 to a pair of artist parents who weren’t especially religious, he spent his teenage years in Douglaston, NY, and eventually landed at Columbia University. Lonesome Dove by Larry McMurtry book review 📚 I get a shit ton of book recommendations. Most I politely file away. You may have noticed my recent turn toward Christianity. Don’t worry, I’m not turning into some Bible-thumbing Jesus freak. But I am more curious than ever, so consider this me following that curiosity wherever it leads. Well, suffice to say, this is one of the best novels I’ve ever read. Just a masterpiece from beginning to end. This place was made for guys like me📚 Realized I never posted my 2025 favorites!
