The Weekly Rapport #14: Mobility, Documentaries, and More Books

Hi All!

Here is your weekly guide of things I’m enjoying, consuming, using and loving. Enjoy.

Instagram Account I’m Following

MobilityWOD

I stumbled upon this account through the Discovery page on Instagram. They do a daily stretch or active recovery method that promotes mobility and flexibility in all muscle groups. I have learned a lot about how important ankle mobility is and being able to squat all the way down while keeping your heels on the ground.

Book I’m Reading

The World is Flat – Thomas Friedman

I previously read Thomas Friedman’s latest book Thank You for Being Late which was awesome. I liked his writing and opinions so much that I decided to look into some of his other books. The World is Flat kept coming back as one of the most highly rated ones. Although it was written in 2006, it takes you through just how much technology has “flattened” the world and made it so incredibly easy to communicate across continents, time zones, and languages with virtually no difficulty.

From Amazon:with this “flattening” of the globe, which requires us to run faster in order to stay in place, has the world gotten too small and too fast for human beings and their political systems to adjust in a stable manner?”

Funny Instagram Post

I admit I am a religious listener of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, and I try not to overly promote his stuff – but this Instagram post really landed for me. It perfectly demonstrates the fanboy culture that can definitely show from people who listen to the Joe Rogan Experience a little too much. I’m guilty of running hills myself…

Documentaries I Loved

Avicii: True Stories Netflix

This was really good, but also pretty sad. Avicii was brilliant at creating melodies and formulating hit songs. I was always a big fan, but I didn’t realize how talented he actually was. Wyclef Jean said (and I’m paraphrasing), “Most musicians need to sit in front of a piano or touch a guitar for their genius to come out. The only two people I’ve seen who can take an entire orchestra in their head and know exactly what they want were Michael Jackson and Tim Berg (Avicii).”

Foo Fighters: Back and Forth Netflix

There are probably only two people I would be truly starstruck by if I ever saw them in person: Paul McCartney and Dave Grohl. I finally got around to watching the Foo Fighters documentary on Netflix and it was awesome. It goes through the history of Dave from his Nirvana days, all the way up to the current day Foo Fighters and all the band members that came and went. They are such a TRUE rock band in every sense.

Great Reads Across the Internet

Have a great MLK weekend,
